Second Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C, Lk.28b-36

Lk.28b-36
Our life is a mixture of happiness and sorrows. It is impossible to remain in happiness or sorrows for ever. We need to accept these life situations as an when it comes with serenity. This is where our spiritual life plays a significant role. In our moments of sorrows, our spiritual life should empower us to face these disturbing moments with tranquility and hope. Similarly, in our moments of happiness, the same conviction should remind us that this moment too shall pass away.
Last Sunday we made our Lenten journey to the desert experience of Jesus where as, today we are invited to reflect on the transfiguration experience of Jesus. In the desert experience of Jesus we came across his humanity. Here, on mount Tabore, we witness the heavenly glory of Jesus. This arrangement of readings on the season of Lent itself is a reminder that life is a mixture of both these realities…
The highlight of the transfiguration account is the attitude of Jesus Himself, His willingness to accept God’s will that demands the abandonment of this ecstatic moments and back to the hard realities of our day to day life. Peter tells Jesus: “ it is good to be here.” but Jesus could foresee the purpose behind this divine experience. He drew strength from this divine experience and continued his journey towards Jerusalem. As we continue our Lenten journey like Jesus, let us accept our life with serenity that there is a God who accompanies us and bless our lives with variety of experiences, and filling us with inner strength and hope to continue on our way.
